Zbytkáče/Crazy blocks

Občas na něco natrefím a skončí to tím, že to prostě musím vyzkoušet. Přesně tak to bylo i s touto technikou náhodného sešívání. Návod jak na to najdete tady - klik a pouzdro na brýle či cokoliv jiného tamtéž - klik. Nejdřív jsem to vyzkoušela na dalším spacáku. Udělala jsem ho trochu širší (17cm), aby byl jako postýlka a ne jako předchozí futrál. Polštářek jsem taky udělala trošku jinak a s výsledkem jsem moc spokojená a holky taky, takže další jsou v plánu.

I have quite a few projects in progress but starting something new seems to be more fun. That is why I tried the Crazy square block and later on the Sunglass Case. I turned the first one into dolls sleeping bag. It's wider than my first attempt so it's really like a little bed. The girls are exited and so am I so there are more to come.

Návod na pouzdro je napsaný na čtverec 12", ale to bylo strašně veliké, tak jsem ve finále ufikla 9cm a i tak je vcelku velké (18x14cm). Přidala jsem si tam očko s kroužkem, takže můžu přidat karabinku a využít pouzdro na cokoliv jiného. Už dlouho jsem chtěla udělat něco v černobílé kombinaci, ale neměla jsem dost dlouhý zip, tak jsem přidala žlutý a žlutě jsem i prošívala. Žlutá není moje oblíbená barva a tak se mi nejvíc líbí zadní strana, kde je té žluté nejmíň :-) Taky máte svoje oblíbené a neoblíbené barvy?

I knew I want to do black and white combination but I didn't have zipper in required length. So I picked yellow and quilted with yellow as well. Yellow is not my fav color so I like the back side of the case the most. The pattern asks for 12"square but it was very big so I cut of 3.5inches off the square. I like to add some key ring to the side. That way I can turn it into wristlet or hang it somewhere. It just adds more variety to it.

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Gnome Love

This post is part of Blogger's Quilt Festival. Last year I linked up for the very first time with my first quilt I made. I didn't know what to expect and I was surprised by all the lovely comments I have received. That's why I decided to join in this year as well. I haven't made many quilts but there is one I truly love. Seeing my baby sleeping underneath it is just pure pleasure. I have also learned that I like to do sampler quilts. I'm not really into repeating one block many times and these sampler blocks just makes unique piece at the end plus it gives me the opportunity to try new techniques. This quilt was made during the Cathedral Window sampler QAL. If you want to know more about this QAL or see some blocks in detail you can check my posts No.1, No.2, No.3, No.4 and No.5.

My favorite part is the ribbon embellishment and some of the fussy cut gnomes. It is also the first time I spent couple of hours with one block. These were not difficult to make even though I'm not experienced quilter but some of them were little time consuming.

The back side is made out of teddy bears fleece. I love the polka dot binding too. I have used this fabric combo in couple of my projects and I still love it so there might be some more.

Zkušební/Trials

V neděli jsem vám předvedla hromadu kůží a tady je první zkušební verze použití. Inspirovala jsem se touto taštičkou - klik. Přijde mi, že jsem ten kanýrek ovšem moc zašila, ale párat jsem nemohla, protože by to na té kůži bylo vidět a tak už jsem si nastříhala kolečka na další verzi.

I shared my pile of leather scraps on Sunday Stash and here is my first attempt of using it. I got my inspiration from this blog post. I feel like I sewed too much over the ruffle so I want to try again. I already prepared the circles as you can see on the first pic. I really like how the lining fabric goes well together with the main fabric. Nothing makes me happy more that matchy combo.

Možná jste si všimli, že dneska dávám velké fotky a taky jsem se je snažila trochu jinak nafotit než obvykle. Za to můžou tipy co jsem vyčetla na netu - klik. Taky se pokouším o nový vzhled hlavičky blogu, ale přiznám se, že mi to moc nejde. Ten doporučovaný online program mi vůbec nefunguje. Dalším pokusem je spací pytel pro panenky. Příště ho musím udělat trochu širší, protože takhle je to spíš takové pouzdro na panenku a lepší by byla spíš postýlková širší verze. Střih vychází z pouzdra na tužky z knížky Zakka Style. Tak co, jak se vám zamlouvají moje hokusy pokusy?

I also tried to do something for my girls. Here I present trial version for dolls sleeping bag. It's more a case for doll. I really need to make it wider so it'll look like little bed. It's modified version of pencil case from Zakka Style book. Some of you maybe noticed I use large pictures today. That's because I read Amy's post and I just need to try almost everything I see. I also read some tips from Gemma and I wanted my header to look differently but I just can't get the picmonkey to work. So this week is all about trying new things and playing around.

Piráti/Pirates

 

Mám teď nějak náladu na ty menší rychlejší projekty, tak jsem ušila ještě pirátské taštičky. Ta větší je rozměrově stejná jako ty s autama a ta poslední je menší. U té jsem zapomněla dole přišít kroužek, tak jsem jako zakončení zipu udělala lebku. Je to taková kapsa na mini poklad. Před našitím panelu jsem látku s výztuhou prošila vlnovkou. Vidíte ty vlny na moři jo?

 

 

I'm currently in pouch making mode. I made some with vehicles panels and added two more with pirates. There is no front or back, it's fancy from both sides. I forgot to add key ring to the little one so I ended up with skull as a zipper ending. It is fun little treasure pocket. I have also done little quilting before adding the panels. See the waves in there?

 

 

Všechny čtyři jsou ušité podle tohoto návodu. Snad se budou klukům líbit. Mám tu ještě další panely, tak možná vznikne ještě nějaká ta holčičí varianta.

 

 

All of them were made using the Open Wide Zippered Pouch Tut. I hope the boys will like it. I have some more panels so I might eventually make some girlie version. We'll see.

Hrrr/Overexcited

Možná jste si všimli, že jsem trochu hrrr a lehce se nadchnu pro všechno možné. No a to se mi stává pořád, ikdyž nešiju. Občas mi to vydrží a dotáhnu věci do konce a občas to vyšumí. Před pár hodinama jsem se dočetla o jednom společném šití a hrrr jdu do toho :-) Možná jste si povšimli mého předchozího nadšení pro Retro Rubies QAL, čekám až mi dorazí moje verze časopisu ve kterém je střih, ale látky už mám koupené. Zatím jsem nadšená verzí, kterou uveřejnila organizátorka na svém webu viz. její foto níže.

Do you know what the side effect of my sewing break is? I'm kind of overexcited now. I planned to finish some UFOs first but I found out about one SAL and I'm jumping on board. How can you resist something called The Easiest Sew Along Ever. Tomorrow is the last day for joining in so that was quite quick decision making. Today I also want to share my excitement for the Retro Rubies QAL. I'm yet to receive the pattern but I got my fabrics already. I really like the version Alyssa shared on her blog (picture above). Isn't that pretty?

K mému rychlému rozhodnutí přispěla i hromada různě velkých kusů kůže, kterou jsem dostala od kamarádek. Díky! V plánu to nebylo, ale mám chuť s tím něco zkusit. S kůží jsem nikdy předtím nešila, tak pro začátek prubnu nějaké aplikace. Prohrábla jsem zásobu zipů a vybrala ty co ladí :-) Těšte se na další taštičky.

Last week my friends got me some leather scraps. It's a bit unexpected addition but I'm excited to try it as appliqué or some kind of embellishment first. I went through my zipper stash and picked those that goes well together. You know me, matchy matchy. Stay tuned for more pouches.
